Tomorrow Night!! Noir Presents Local Artist John Kelley's Haunted

Tomorrow Night!! Noir Presents Local Artist John Kelley's Haunted

We have been so busy that I didn't realize I had forgotten to post about our September 3rd Friday event on our new blog.  Sorry about that folks.  You won't want to miss it!

Kansas City, Missouri, September 16, 2016:  Please join us in the parlor on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:00pm at Noir Arts and Oddities (1609 W. 39th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111) for an enchanted and haunting evening of mixed media works of art by local artist John Kelley.  Kelley a set designer by profession, will be exhibiting his latest assemblage piece entitled “Haunted” as well as other drawings, paintings and an example of his handcrafted pet coffins.  John’s mastery of creating not only art but a haunting atmosphere is sure to delight our visitors.  This event is in conjunction with 3rd Fridays on West 39th Street and is family friendly.

With the exhibition “Haunted” at the Noir Arts & Oddities’ gallery on West 39th, local artist, John Kelley brings together two of his guiding interests…the macabre and nature… which is appropriate not only to the season but to the way in which the season taunts us with it’s change and wonder.  Kelley’s works seem to point to an astonishment about the dark, sometimes frightening beauty found in death.  Even in his drawings and paintings he explores the meaning and constant presence of death, but as we start and allow ourselves to travel into Kelley’s works of art we can also see the beauty of the ghostly, macabre and the haunted.

3rd Friday!! Noir presents Under the Sea

upload.png

Ahoy friends!  Nautical nonsense will abound at Noir this 3rd Friday. The party starts at 6:30 pm to 9:00pm.  The parlor will be filled with treasures with an "Under the Sea" theme. We are proud to feature Muse Pottery & Ceramics from Sedalia, MO.  They have filled the parlor with incredible pieces featuring plenty of tentacles and steampunk flair.  Not only are these pieces of unique one of a kind art they are functional.  All stoneware is food, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.  Josh and Macy, bring their unique flair to each piece of this high end pottery.  “I don’t make matching sets, I make families, each individual cup is a slightly different shape, size just like a family”, says creator Josh.  We definitely want to keep them all so be sure to get there early to get your favorite piece!  We will be doing raffle drawings for some amazing prizes to include a Noir Kraken gift pack, Carafe with 4 matching cups, tentacle tea cup and Cthulhu Whiskey Bottle.

We will also feature mermaid inspired fashion by Hollie Hermes.  Hollie is a Kansas City fashion designer, who aims to WOW and dazzle her audience. With her designs she likes to bring to life the fantasy world. Whether it be saucy aliens in space gear or sparkling gowns for all the little mermaids coming to land. Hollie wants to take people away from the world we live in to a magical place of child-like dreams where real world rules don't apply.

Hollie graduated from Johnson county community college with a degree in fashion design in 2015. While she was attending she won 1st place in her schools fashion show. Since then she has participated in many local fashion shows. Hollie plans on designing many more dazzle-tastic looks in the future and you can view her work athttps://m.facebook.com/Hermes.Hollie.

The fun doesn't stop there, we are excited to continue the fun with music by A Ship Called Revenge.  They will be playing some shanty and dirge out on the deck.  Check out their FB page,  https://m.facebook.com/AShipCalledRevenge/

So don your best pirate or mermaid/mermen attire and join the party.

Adorable!!

The one of the best parts of my job is never knowing what will walk in my door.  Yesterday was a good example.  A young man nicknamed "Elmo" brought me this sweet little mummified baby mouse.  He had been having issues with his air filter and upon cleaning it he discovered this gem.

Perfectly preserved!!  I put the little baby into one of my vintage at deco jewelry caskets.  He/she is perfect!  Thinking of all the possibilities to display it!  Yep, I love my job!!!

Is it Halloween yet?!?!

Well, I've waited add long as I could.  It's starting to creep into the parlor.... Are you ready?  88 days until Halloween!! #halloweenisalifestyle #isithalloweenyet? #halloweenintheparlor #vintagehalloween #orangeandblack #beistle #jackolanterns #blackcats #witches #allthingshalloween
