Kansas City, Missouri, September 16, 2016: Please join us in the parlor on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:00pm at Noir Arts and Oddities (1609 W. 39th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111) for an enchanted and haunting evening of mixed media works of art by local artist John Kelley. Kelley a set designer by profession, will be exhibiting his latest assemblage piece entitled “Haunted” as well as other drawings, paintings and an example of his handcrafted pet coffins. John’s mastery of creating not only art but a haunting atmosphere is sure to delight our visitors. This event is in conjunction with 3rd Fridays on West 39th Street and is family friendly.
With the exhibition “Haunted” at the Noir Arts & Oddities’ gallery on West 39th, local artist, John Kelley brings together two of his guiding interests…the macabre and nature… which is appropriate not only to the season but to the way in which the season taunts us with it’s change and wonder. Kelley’s works seem to point to an astonishment about the dark, sometimes frightening beauty found in death. Even in his drawings and paintings he explores the meaning and constant presence of death, but as we start and allow ourselves to travel into Kelley’s works of art we can also see the beauty of the ghostly, macabre and the haunted.
